So for the moment the pictures above show-off most of the painted stuff and my conversion of a bog-standard goblin. I used nothing more than pieces from the orcs & goblins battalion box set. His spear/wand is a shortened standard, he has a wolf skin cloak and a web work piece on his back. A further description will be given when he is painted.
Another conversion piece I have that will be put up very soon is a converted orc shaman from the orc warboss kit. Again he will be fully described once he is painted. Anyway onto the squads shown above.
Spider Riders:
I decided to paint my Orcs red before I had even opened the box, but was undecided on how to paint the goblins. Everyone knows that for a medium to dark green Orc you will always find a snot or lime green gobbo', so applying that logic Orange seemed to fit, I'm still not 100% on them but what I am pleased about is the uniformity of the purple spiders.
Orc Boar Boys:
I was so impressed by the imposing look of the first 5 boar boys I made that I had to get another 5 to get a second rank, the orcs themselves have a darker skin colour to that of the rank and file orc boy to suggest the boar boys higher social ranking within the Orc and Goblin social structure. They're armour is of a better quality and even within this squad the second rank has less armour to the first rank maybe this is unwise as Gork & Mork may whisper into the ears of the second rank about 'unfair dat iz coz we'z do all da same fightin' and they'z get all da loot!', fingers crossed for anymosity rolls for this squad. Their boars blue hues made sense to me to add to the tundra wasteland that these orcs had been lost and abandoned in.
Orc Boyz
So as I have said the standard boys are red, a rusty red, to fit in with the colour of the rest of the army I have given them a dark brown and black for their leathers plus giving all 20 of them extra hand weapons for my first squad of orc boys just felt so good. Five of the boys in the squad are actually 40k boyz that have had a bit of a clean up so that they fit with fantasy.
On-top of this I have a 19 strong squad of goblin archers, 10 strong squad of black orcs, the orc shaman mentioned already and the Orc Big Boss on a war boar.
